Former CBS Vice President and legal counsel, Hayley Geftman-Gold, has had a rough time since proclaiming on social media that she had no sympathy for the victims of the massacre which recently took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The now disgraced CBS executive posted on Facebook, “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Republicans will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.” The post has since been deleted but not before it could be screen captured and shared with CBS leadership along with the rest of the Internet.
The part of Mrs. Gold’s post where she refers to children being murdered was a reference to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School where Adam Lanza killed twenty children and six adults. What Ms. Gold left out of her post was that Adam Lanza’s mother, who was also killed in her son’s shooting spree, continued to keep unsecured firearms in her house while being aware of her son’s mental health issues.
Hayley Geftman-Gold was promptly fired from CBS. The network released a statement confirming that Mrs. Gold was terminated due to her disgusting comments on Facebook. “This individual, who was with us for approximately one year, violated the standards of our company and is no longer an employee of CBS. Her views as expressed on social media are deeply unacceptable to all of us at CBS. Our hearts go out to the victims in Las Vegas and their families.”
In addition to being fired from her job, Mrs. Gold is now receiving all sorts of hate messages on Facebook including death threats. In response, Mrs. Gold has filed a report with the NYPD, and they are supposedly investigating the threats made against her. Perhaps not so surprisingly, Mrs. Gold is now looking for the very sympathy which she could not give. She is now learning that free speech does not absolve one of the consequences when you say and do stupid things on social media.
Mrs. Gold was not alone in showing her lack of empathy toward the shooting victims in Las Vegas. Greg Morelli, co-owner of Max’s Deli in Highland Park, Illinois, sent out a disgusting Tweet where he stated, “Soon as I heard it was country music, I felt relief. White people shooting white people isn’t terror, it’s community outreach. #LasVegas.” Mr. Morelli has learned the hard way that the Internet is forever, and making hateful comments about the deaths of fellow Americans does not go unnoticed or unpunished. Max’s Deli has now been the target of death threats, hate messages, and one-star reviews on Yelp. While death threats are not excusable, and should be investigated by law enforcement, both Mrs. Gold and Mr. Morelli should have had the intuition that their comments would give them a massive problem both financially and in terms of their security. However, neither one exercised good judgment because they, like many liberals, feel entitled to do and say as they please and expect no consequences for their actions.
To Mr. Morelli’s credit he did issue an apology on Facebook but only time will tell if his apology will be received in a positive light. As for Mrs. Gold, aside from filing a police report with the NYPD, she has not issued an official statement.
The behavior of the left when a high profile shooting takes places is very predictable so long as the shooting fits their political agenda. We had Hillary Clinton blaming the NRA and silencers. Then there was Congressman Seth Moulton refusing to observe a moment of silence for the victims and instead was more interested in political grand standing. The lunatic Left came out in droves on Facebook and Twitter proclaiming they were happy that people were killed because they probably voted for President Trump.
The liberal media, i.e. CNN, MSNBC, and their cohorts also share some of the responsibility for what happened in Las Vegas and this hatred people have for President Trump. It is okay for people not to like or agree with a president, however, the liberal media has been fanning the flames of hate ever since President Trump took office. This hate has now metastasized into ANTIFA and the shooting incident involving Steve Scalise and his fellow Republican colleagues. Now the liberal media has created a situation where it is politically correct to hate conservatives and to attack them violently. We as a nation need to come together, and though we may strongly disagree with one another, at least have the common decency to respect one another. However, it is this common decency which eludes most on the left because they simply don’t care.
