Hours After Harvard Hires Convicted Felon Chelsea Manning, Look What Happens

A former member of the Obama era CIA has refused to attend any Harvard events and then resigned as a Senior Fellow of the Belfer Center due to an earlier invitation to have  whistleblower, Chelsea Manning, speak as an honorary fellow. People do not seem to be okay with supporting someone who not only leaked classified information to our enemies, but also caused the death and injury of fellow soldiers during the runaway stunt that   “Bradley” Manning pulled while deployed.

Harvard should also be questioned for the format in which Chelsea Manning was supposed to be speaking. “Social, technological and economic ramifications of Artificial Intelligence,” seem to be a bit over “her” pay grade, not to mention it sounds an awful lot like information that “she” probably shouldn’t be discussing under the circumstance of “her” previous charges and time served.

Harvard did revoke their invitation after it became apparent that they would lose more important assets if they continued on their path of supporting an American traitor, but the damage may have already been done.

According to Young Conservatives :

People are shocked by Harvard’s announcement this week about Bradley ‘Chelsea’ Manning.
Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government has named Manning a visiting fellow.

From Free Beacon:

Harvard announced Manning this week as its “first transgender Fellow” for the 2017-18 academic year and described her as a “Washington D.C.-based network security expert and former U.S. Army intelligence analyst.” It also referred to her as a whistleblower.

The announcement said she would speak on the “social, technological and economic ramifications of Artificial Intelligence” and “As a trans woman, she advocates for queer and transgender rights as @xychelsea on Twitter.”

Manning served seven years in prison for one of the largest leaks in military history and did gender transition during imprisonment. Manning’s 35-year sentence was commuted by President Barack Obama.

Many were stunned that Harvard could make such an appointment. Former Obama CIA Director Mike Morrell, who is a Senior Fellow at the Kennedy School, resigned in protest.

“I am writing to inform you that I am resigning, effective immediately, as a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Belfer Center,” he wrote in a letter to Dean Douglas Elmendorf. “I do so with sadness because I have enjoyed immensely my time at Belfer.”

“Unfortunately, I cannot be part of an organization—The Kennedy School—that honors a convicted felon and leaker of classified information,” Morell wrote, going on to write she was found guilty of “17 serious crimes, including six counts of espionage” with her leaks to WikiLeaks.

Here’s his resignation letter.

Morell noted in his letter that senior military leaders said Manning’s leaks put U.S. soldier lives in danger, and that the Kennedy School was assisting Manning in her “long-standing effort to legitimize the criminal path that she took to prominence, an attempt that may encourage others to leak classified information as well.”

He concluded that leaking classified information is “disgraceful and damaging to our nation.”

Social media saw a torrent of anger at the decision.

Here’s just a sample.

“I’m loyal to Harvard, but I think I’ll forego IOP events this fall. (I’d feel the same way if Chelsea Manning were still Bradley Manning.)” pundit Bill Kristol said. Manning replied: “Awesome ! can you ask @seanspicer to do the same ? #WeGotThis.”

Sean Spicer was also named a fellow.

Barack Obama may have commuted Chelsea Manning’s sentence, but in many people’s eyes that will never clear “her” of the crimes committed and the loss of life caused by “her” actions. To see Manning parading around the country like some kind of self-proclaimed hero is offensive to those who uphold their oath to their country as well as to those of us who honor our military members to the fullest.

There are many kinds of whistleblowers. Manning was the kind that got people killed and disabled for life. Manning was the kind that provided those that want to destroy us information that would help them do so. No legitimate venue shoukd be allowing him to speak no matter the subject matter.

I truly hope more of these universities take some good advice and follow Harvard by revoking invitations to enemies of this country such as Manning. Only time will tell, but there does seem to be many changes happening for the better when it comes to who and what is accepted at public speaking events.
