As Texans start to recover from Hurricane Harvey, the threat of looters taking advantage of survivors is concerning to law enforcement, including Sheriff Troy Nells, who is in charge of protecting citizens in Fort Bend County, Texas. Sheriff Nells has issued a statement which potential looters would be wise to listen to. “As far as Fort Bend County, we haven’t [had looting]. I made a comment the other day that we support the Second Amendment here in Fort Bend County, and there are many of us that are armed. I would caution those that want to come and prey on our people here in Fort Bend County that are suffering so much right now. You may want to stay out of Fort Bend County because you could leave this county in a bag.” Sheriff Nells made this statement during a Fox News interview when he was asked if he had witnessed any looting and other crimes of opportunity in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey.
Texans in other counties have posted signs everywhere saying, “You loot, we shoot,” making it clear that there are reasons why they say, “Don’t mess with Texas.” Thankfully, many Texans are armed, and so far there haven’t been reports of homeowners having to shoot looters.
In another viral video traveling around the internet, a former SWAT team deputy is seen telling potential looters he will cut them in half with his shotgun should they decide to start taking things that don’t belong to them. Confronting the looters, the former deputy yells, “Hey! Don’t go back in that store. I’m telling you one time: I’m not scared to shoot you, I’m an ex-[expletive] SWAT deputy. I will cut your [expletive] in half.” In the video, which you can see below, the former deputy continues by expounding on the Texas law and how it applies in times of disaster. “Protecting the community is why I’m here,” the man tells another bystander. He said that as a former law enforcement officer, he understands what the law says and he has the right to defend a third person’s property. If you’re looting, you’re stealing. It’s a violation of Texas law and federal law in a time of a catastrophe. Do not enter people’s homes. The Constitution says you’ve got the right to protect yourself and bear arms.”
In some areas looters have been so bold as to attempt to steal boats from people trying to rescue survivors so that they can continue with their criminal activity. These criminals have shot at the folks commonly referred to as the “Cajun Navy” with no regard for who they harm or kill. In response, the National Guard has been deployed in some of these areas to provide the Cajun Navy and other rescuers with the protection they need.
In one specific instance, the Cajun Navy reported via their Facebook page that looters pretended to be people in need of rescue, and while using guns, attempted to steal the boats. “Clyde and the other team members and teams are all safe. Looters decided to pose as people needing to be rescued, and they attempted to overtake the boats, and there were shots fired at the boats. I repeat they are all safe. Looters must not have wanted our boats in the water for rescues. Please feel free to share this post. We are currently on stand down pending a new strategic plan.”
So far the Cajun Navy has not reported that any of their members have been shot or physically harmed. However, if looters decide to disregard the warnings of these brave Texans protecting their property, and they are killed, it is a sure bet Black Lives Matter and ANTIFA will call it racism. Interestingly, neither of these organizations has been seen in any of the communities affected by Hurricane Harvey passing out food and water.
Some liberals have taken to Facebook and Twitter to cry over how Texans declaring “you loot we shoot” is racist. Yet these same keyboard warriors who claim to fight for justice and those less fortunate have not been seen helping where it counts. Texans of all races, creeds, and backgrounds have come together to help one another in time of need. This of course completely destroys the liberal media’s narrative of how bad race relations in the USA are.
