The controversy over every single thing in America has reached epic proportions of insanity. Political correctness is now taking over where hate groups like Antifa have left off. To get ahead of Antifa, people nationwide are dismantling statues and memorials of everything, including religious statues at Catholic schools, all in the vein of seeming more “inclusive” and “tolerant.”
According to Dennis Michael Lynch :
Officials at an independent Catholic school in San Anselmo, California have removed and relocated a large number of religious statues, reportedly including those of Jesus and Mary, in an effort not to alienate children of other faiths.
Amy Skewes-Cox, who heads San Domenico School’s board of trustees, said at least 18 of the 180 religious icons still remain at the school as part of a plan, which was approved unanimously by the board last year, the Marin Independent Journal reported.
Skewes-Cox said the timing of the statues’ removals and the national statue debate spurring from the unrest in Charlottesville, Virginia, is an unfortunate coincidence and have “absolutely no connection other than it is change, and people have a hard time with change.”
“If you walk on the campus and the first thing you confront is three or four statues of St. Dominic or St. Francis, it could be alienating for that other religion, and we didn’t want to further that feeling,” she said.
According to Sister Maureen McInerney, prioress general of the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, the staff of the K-12 school want to be more inclusive to students regardless of their religious affiliation.
“San Domenico is a Catholic school; it also welcomes people of all faiths,” she told reporters. “It is making an effort to be inclusive of all faiths.”
In an email to the school’s board of directors, Dominican Sisters of San Rafael and the head of school, parent Shannon Fitzpatrick objected to the removal of the statues and other steps the school has taken in an effort to make the school more inclusive.
“Articulating an inclusive foundation appears to mean letting go of San Domenico’s 167-year tradition as a Dominican Catholic school and being both afraid and ashamed to celebrate one’s heritage and beliefs,” wrote Fitzpatrick, whose 8-year-old son attends the school.
She added, “In our time here, the word “Catholic” has been removed from the mission statement, sacraments were removed from the curriculum, the lower school curriculum was changed to world religions, the logo and colors were changed to be “less Catholic,” and the uniform was changed to be less “Catholic.”
Responding to follow-up questions Monday, Fitzpatrick wrote, “There are other families having the same concerns I do. Many parents feel if the school is heading in a different direction then the San Domenico community should have been notified before the signing of the enrollment for the following year.”
Cheryl Newell, who had four children graduate from San Domenico, said, “I am extremely disappointed in the school and the direction they’ve been going. This isn’t a new thing that they’ve been intentionally eroding their Catholic heritage. They’re trying to be something for everyone and they’re making no one happy.”
On Twitter, people are outraged. Below is just a sampling:
In order to be more inclusive we can't include things!
I told y'all religion was next.https://t.co/2XV0PwjSHi

Christians, why do you do this? No other religion does this, no other religion expects this from you. https://t.co/d8pkbacEF9

Insane. My hometown's Catholic school is removing statues of Mary and Jesus because "it could be alienating" https://t.co/hyHuaogTzk

Why does an all Catholic school need to be more inclusive to students of other religions? It is after all a CATHOLIC school. Maybe I am missing something here, but I doubt it. First it is our history that is destroyed and hidden, then our religion. Next will be the Constitution and laws.
Lets face facts, communism has taken over in our media, or schools, and in our streets. This is being perpetrated and implemented by a misguided and troubled youth who has been brainwashed and paid to create this new communistic utopia that is somehow meant to make our country good.
We need a better way to stop this rather than standing at rallies and screaming that free speech should be protected then engaging in physical violence to shut the other side up. There is more to what is happening, and we need to find and stop the source of it all.
