The “take a knee” protest has reached council meetings and it is getting ridiculous. Four council members took a knee recently in Ann Arbor Michigan to show their support for the NFL players who have been the recent target of many American citizens for their blatant disrespect of the America anthem and flag. Really? Instead of actually addressing the issues that are affecting so many cities all over this nation, they instead take a knee to support a large amount of criminal and over-paid athletes?
It is past time that those in our country who want to lazily take a knee in protest need to actually step up and work toward fixing the things they claim are actual issues. Yet, not one of them are seen in any “oppressed” or otherwise affected areas that are the focus of their attention-seeking antics. When this kind of anti-American rhetoric reaches our city council members, it is time that those protesting be held to their own standards regardless of their place in society. Big or small, those who want to call for specific issues to be fixed need to be held responsible to begin fixing these issues.

Four city council members from Ann Arbor, Michigan, recently decided to take a knee during the Pledge of Allegiance to show solidarity with the NFL players doing the same during the national anthem.
Ann Arbor city council members Chip Ward, Chuck Warpehoski, Sumi Kailasapathy, and Jason Frenzel participated in the controversial demonstration during a meeting Monday, The Ann Arbor News reported.
In a statement on his website, Warpehoski said he chose to take a knee during the patriotic ceremony to show “concern” and “respect”:
“I can’t speak to what is in each person’s heart, but for me to ‘take a knee’ is an act of attention, of concern, and of respect. And it is in that spirit that I take a knee at tonight’s city council meeting: out of respect for the aspiration that we be a nation ‘with liberty and justice for all,’ with full attention that we fall short of that ideal in many ways, and with humble dedication to continue to work that the promise of the pledge may be fulfilled.”
Kailasapathy told The Ann Arbor News that she chose to take a knee as part of her desire to uphold the United States’ democratic values.
“For me,” she said, “taking a knee is also showing solidarity with the group of people who have been doing this at the national level.”
The Monday evening demonstration was a reflection of the protest started in 2016 by then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who began taking a knee to raise awareness about perceived injustices against black Americans.
The number of NFL players participating in the protest skyrocketed after President Donald Trump criticized it in late September, suggesting those who participate in the demonstration should be fired.
The league’s TV ratings have continued to fall ever since the protest spread across the organization.
Are these people not noticing that these protests are actually not helping anything? The only thing it accomplishes is to show the utter blindness and hypocrisy of those who claim to be fighting for social justice. There are many things wrong in this nation and admittedly they need to be addressed, but this is not the way. There is no social progress in taking a knee.
Wake up, America. The only way to address your issues is to actually get out and address the issues. The true purpose of these protests has nothing to actually do with supposed “police brutality,” or social injustices but so much more to do with the urban narrative that the anthem and flag of our Nation are somehow steeped in racism. That’s right folks, the fake protests are just one more thing to lend to the already tense racial divide that this country currently suffers from.
We need to stop falling for the false and often inflammatory rhetoric pushed by those who want nothing more than to rip our country apart at the seams. We have to stop letting the false narrative lead us by the noses in all things social.
Bring God back into our country before it is too late.
