While President Obama was in office, he treated his role more like a King than an elected official hired to represent the people. President Obama used the FBI, the IRS, and the Department of Justice to retaliate against his enemies and prevent others from rising up against him.
Back in March of this year, it was revealed that President Obama had a slush fund he used to further the cause of various left-wing organizations. The strategy was simple– take money from large companies and use the Department of Justice to disburse the funds through various avenues. The money would come as a result of backroom deals the Obama Administration made with these companies, and would then use the DOJ to give these funds to organizations like La Raza, The National Urban League, and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. The money was meant for the victims of these large companies, but apparently the Obama administration and President Obama himself thought they knew better. Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement, “When the federal government settles a case against a corporate wrongdoer, any settlement funds should go first to the victims and then to the American people — not to bankroll third-party special interest groups or the political friends of whoever is in power.” President Trump has not publicly commented on President Obama’s slush fund shenanigans but Attorney General Jeff Sessions has made it clear the gravy train on the taxpayer dime is over.
Perhaps this is why all these various left wing groups are protesting President Trump and anyone connected to his administration. ANTIFA, Black Lives Matter, La Raza, The National Urban League, and the National Community Reinvestment Coalition all have received money from George Soros. It isn’t any surprise that now that Mr. Soros is their only source of funding, the liberal snowflakes are crying because they can’t get any more money from Obama and his liberal minions.
In June of this year, The Wall Street Journal published an editorial praising President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions for ending President Obama’s slush fund scheme. They highlighted some of the big companies who were forced to pay and where some of the money went.
“The misuse of settlement slush funds was one of the Obama Administration’s worst practices, which it used to end run Congress’s constitutional spending power. After the GOP took the House and tried to cut spending for liberal interest groups, the Obama Justice Department began to force corporate defendants to allocate a chunk of their financial penalties to those same groups. Banks were made to fund left-wing activists such as NeighborWorks—though these groups were neither victims nor parties to lawsuits. In 2015, JP Morgan was required to pay $7.5 million to the American Bankruptcy Institute’s endowment for financial education. In 2016, Volkswagen was required to invest $2 billion in zero-emissions technology and promote zero-emissions cars. Government enforcement became an income redistribution mechanism without having to go through Congress.”
President Obama was not one who liked to follow the law. Rather he did as he pleased, using his phone and a pen. He embarked on his journey to fundamentally transform America, and for eight years he got away with it. By extension, Hillary Clinton would have continued these slush fund practices effectively selling America down the river.
With the directive that Attorney General Jeff Sessions issued on this matter, he has directed his U.S. Attorneys to cease all funding of any parties who are not part of a lawsuit. AG Sessions made it very clear that this money is intended for victims and not to further the cause of a racist or political organization.
Since issuing his directive with the support of President Trump, Democrats have not made a statement on the matter. This is likely due to the fact that some of them may have been involved in illegal activity with the racist organizations President Obama was funding. With respect to whether or not the money paid to leftist organizations will be returned to victims is unclear.
